Briefs That Produce Revenue, Not Word Count

The eight fields every content brief needs before a writer touches it.

Weak content is usually a briefing failure. A writer given a keyword and a word count will produce exactly that, and the result will be indistinguishable from every competing page.

01The eight fields

Every brief we approve contains these, and nothing else is required:

  • The specific question the reader is trying to answer
  • The decision the page should help them make
  • The single claim the page argues
  • Proof available, data, examples, or interviews
  • What competing pages get wrong
  • The internal links in and out
  • Success metric and review date
  • Who signs off on accuracy

02Why word count is harmful

A target length invites padding. Replace it with a coverage requirement: the page must answer the listed sub-questions, at whatever length that takes.
